Finally, trimmer kit

First of all, I only use these trimmers to trim my beard. Had some fun with them and our 11 year old son for a review. Don't worry he loves his cropped hair and hasn't cut it in almost 2 months. I have two pairs of trimmers: a Panasonic ER224S Universal Hair Trimmer and a Wahl 9854-600 Lithium Beard and Wet/Dry Beard Trimmer. Ion All In One Trimmers The above Panasonic are very good but they don't have enough power for what I need. Wahl's on top is rusty on me. In Val's defense, they offered a free kit replacement (review with Val's comment in my story). I had a specific problem. I don't like using guides when trimming my beard. I like to hand trim my beard and in order to properly hand trim my beard the trimmer has to have a pretty good performance. Without good performance, the hair will only be squeezed before cutting. My beard is about 4-5 inches long when brushed but I like it to look neat and even. I get different results with the above two trimmers. Most of the time I went to bed with a straight beard and woke up with a 99% straight beard, 1% stray beard and wild hair and that determined the type of trimmer I needed. It took strength to pick up individual loose hairs and not push them down. The only thing I knew about Philips products was their TVs and old stereos. Everything I bought from them was good quality, but buying trimmers from a company I knew as an electronics manufacturer didn't feel right. There was a coupon for these Philips trimmers here at Revain so I took a picture and I have to say I'm impressed. There's enough power to clip those random hairs, although it's quieter than the Wahl and has a similar sound to the Panasonic. Pressing the turbo button on these Philips trimmers boosts performance even further, but I only had to do that for testing. Being bald I really had no other option to test them so I said our 11 year old son let me try them on his hair with instructions. With that in mind, I don't use guides and have never had success with a guide shave. It hasn't changed. I just think I don't know how to use guides. These guides are strong and stay in place, but our son's hair was still bumpy. Including 3 instructions. One has a range of 2-12. One has a range of 2-16. You have a range of 2-20. I'm assuming these are millimeters and there are different guides for different hair thicknesses depending on the design. If you're good at manuals, you'll like them. The Panasonic listed above comes with a one-piece rail that adjusts by dialing in, which is pretty handy but slips out at longer lengths. That doesn't happen with these Philips guides. They also come with 4 different types of blades for detail/preference/nose etc. I'll mention it here in case anyone has the problems I've encountered. The blade is washable, as is the top of the internal trimmer. The standard blade has hex screws which I spent 20 minutes trying to get out. If there's one fault with them, it's the lack of instructions. I only had a flyer with me describing the features. I tried pulling out a blade similar to Panasonic trimmers but that didn't work either. Finally, I did a YouTube search and found a video review showing the blade/head being removed. That's easy. You turn it 1/4 and it pops out immediately. Numbers, I thought it would be something complicated. The blade/head is returned the same way in reverse order. This trimmer set is also travel friendly. All the guides, charger, trimmer itself fit perfectly in the case provided. Battery life is about the same as other trimmers I've tried. When fully charged, I can go a whole week without recharging. I use it 2-3 times a week. I am very happy with them.
