Review on 🎨 Caron Big Cakes Self Striping Yarn 603yd/10.5oz (Boysenberry): Vibrant Boysenberry-Colored Yarn for Creative Projects by Shantel Griffin

I am crocheting an afghan fabric that used two Caron Bigcakes, so I bought two Toffee. The first large cake was excellent, very even and pleasantly colourful, with only one knot but otherwise an even texture. The spots were fun and quirky but didn't look random. The second cake is a different story. It all started well, and to continue the striping I had to make my own little haircut, which was easy to hide on this plaid, but soon all the paint puddles fell out and the color transitions were sharp, and Khan thoughtfully mixed. Then came the knots - 4 in the second half, and I still had to work with the yarn I cut at the beginning. Finally, at a knot, the yarn suddenly became thin and stiff, as if it had become oversaturated with color. It took longer than I wanted but I hope it will come off with washing. You don't even see it in the finished product, but it just didn't feel right in the hand. I'm lucky enough to make one for each of my young daughters, but I'd probably look elsewhere for a special gift for an adult.
