These scissors are just what I need to cut thread close to fabric without damaging my project. At first I used them near the top and thought they weren't cutting as well as I'd like. But then I started using the middle of the blades at the most curved point. This brings the blades closer to the fabric to cut the thread at the base. Works perfectly. I can get very close to the top and bobbin threads for free motion quilting after blocking the stitch. The soft handles really add comfort - they're warm and soft. Just take her! 7 April 2014 After some use, I found that the serrated appearance of the blade got in the way in some cases. Also, the tip doesn't go into the tip. I can't see why the outside of the blade needs to be serrated. When I try to get under the threads with it to trim unnecessary stitches, the notched ridges catch on the thread, making it difficult for the blade to get under. The same goes for the cut/sawn tip. I don't understand why the company felt it necessary to blunt the tip. Customers who purchase this product will surely know how to use scissors safely. :-/ I still recommend these scissors, especially for machine embroidery and quilting. But I'm wondering if they're available anywhere without the jagged edges and blunt ends. That would make my job easier!
