Review on πŸ”ͺ Kuhn Rikon Red Serrated Piranha 'Y' Peeler 6.25" - Efficient Kitchen Tool for Effortless Peeling by Amber Olson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's all about the tools.

I've always said and explained to my children and grandchildren that the right tool can make a task easy or enjoyable, and the wrong tool can sabotage it altogether your efforts. This scrub is a perfect example. I ordered it because the other two I have just don't give me the ease of use I want. I rarely use it for a giant squash, but today I found the perfect use: broccoli. I'm the kind of person who prefers stems to flowers, although peeling the stems has never gotten me to the "just right" Goldilocks. I either hit it too deep or not deep enough and swear all the time. My anger was so deep that I rarely bought fresh broccoli, resorting instead to pre-cut frozen packets. Not today! I had a recipe for raw broccoli salad and knew I had a great new peeler at home. When I got home I pulled out the broccoli and paring knife, took the end of the flower and ran the knife lightly over the base. Some areas had lower strings and needed a smooth second pass. So simple and effective. Fresh broccoli, here I am. Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Horizontal blade peels smooth-skinned fruits and vegetables quickly and easily
Cons
  • So far so good
