Review on Belkin Powered Ultra Slim 4 Port F4U040V by Andrew Arneson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great and compatible with Raspberry Pi.

Works well and serves its purpose. I find the assembly is a bit flimsy. When I took it out of the box it fell almost falling apart. The two halves of the lid have a tiny gap between them. Despite this small flaw I still give it 5 stars because it doesn't fall apart or break and it's a great value. If I pay $30 for it spent I would have expected better quality but for the price I didn't expect it to be top quality so once again it does what it needs to do to clarify this is a powered hub you can put it on the Don't see the pictures but there are two other ports on the side: a power port and an input port, just google it and you will find an image showing this W little shows. It comes with both a power cord and a micro USB to USB cable to connect to an upstream device (micro USB to hub, USB to your device). All in all, this is a complete package. If you're curious about the Raspberry Pi, read on. I got mine to work with my Pi. In my setup, all power comes from the hub. Thus, the hub is powered by the wall. The hub then uses one of its four downstream ports (the ones on the front) to power the Pi (using a USB to Micro USB cable). The upstream port next to the power connector connects to one of two ports on my Raspberry Pi. I don't have any fancy hardware to actually test the current flow, but my Pi hasn't exploded yet (I've been using it for about a month), so I'm pretty damn sure the Pi is fine. I hope this helps you with your confusion when getting a good hub for your raspberry pi. This works well for me and I recommend it to everyone. A quick note for those of you planning to do this but haven't gotten your Pi yet: you might want to get your hands on the newly released Raspberry Pi B+. It already has 4 USB ports, which will save you all the hassle. I didn't know about it until I got my Pi. However, this might be the way for you.
