This is one of those things that is very difficult to know until you suddenly realize it works because it doesn't work anymore. You really need to forget it - it just does its thing when it decides to, and when the battery dies you understand it was working all along. The larger deodorizer I have has a switch and is a bit more accessible so you can turn it on when you need it while this guy decides when you need it. I think it works - it's just very hard to quantify until you know it works, because it stops working. The good news is that you can charge it up and get right back to work.
