I'm an engineer and I do most of the home repairs myself. This unit has well made tanks and a good controller. I was, and still am, a little apprehensive about plumbing interfaces. The interface uses a plastic adapter to provide an interface with pipe threads and this adapter is sealed with radial seal o-rings, which is excellent modern design practice. Also, plastic is glass. filled with resin which makes it very durable. It's cheap plastic. However, the 1" NPT external thread is cut into the plastic, not pressed. This makes the thread very rough. Also, pipe threads are tapered, which is an outdated sealing technique retained by tradition. The problem with these facts is that the plastic pipe threads leaked when they were first installed with the correct Teflon sealing tape. I had to tighten and tighten and tighten some more to finally stop dripping. And this high torque applied to tapered threads can cause fittings to crack and leak catastrophically at full supply pressure (70psi+ in my house). The adapter must be metal for use with tapered threads.
