The plastic buckle isn't as easy to use as the metal buckles on the old Boy Scout belts I've worn for decades. but the plastic buckle doesn't scratch when I lean against it and goes through TSA scanners with no problem, so I think the new straps are better balanced. The fabric shines more than the cotton on my old belts. but it also doesn't absorb water and dries faster than my old cotton belts, so I think the new ones are better balanced. The strap is slightly wider than my old strap. but it's actually more comfortable and keeps my pants from rolling (anyone old enough to remember Banrol?), so I think the new ones are better balanced. I doubt the plastic buckle will last as long as my old metal buckles. But the synthetic strap is cheap enough that it won't be difficult to replace when the time comes, so I guess I'm not too worried. It was very easy to adjust the length. and the ends don't fray like old cotton belts, so i think synthetic material has its advantages. Conclusion: A good harness at a good price and particularly practical if you fly a lot and don't like the hassle of removing the harness. Belt.
