Please note that almost all photos show the tappet incorrectly. The larger end is for your hand and the smaller end is for the spice. This concentrates the pressure on the narrow end while requiring less pressure (psi) from your hand. There are no two ways, this is an ancient type of instrument and requires a lot of work. I bought it to grind mustard seeds for homemade mustard. and it works exactly as advertised. Other reviews mention that this is a silver colored plastic device. Maybe the manufacturer changed the recipe, but my device is all stainless steel, heavy and solid. Pay attention to the size as it is not big. It is important that it is durable. However, due to the low technology, a lot of work is required. Would I buy again and/or recommend to friends.
