The blocks are well made and clearly use metal to conduct heat away from the LEDs - meaning it gets hot after hours of use but also keeps the LEDs within their preferred temperature range. 4 adjustable panels make it easy to direct the light where you need it. Just remember not to look away when you turn them on - they're very bright close-ups. The LED arrays are covered with a plastic diffuser disc - this ensures an even distribution of light and is intended to keep the LEDs clean. Note: The lights come with lightweight plastic and brass connectors that plug into standard power lines: I wouldn't do it. Trust them with the weight of the lights for the long haul. I used existing ceramic fixtures. The "extras" are nice, not sure they will hold up over time.
