I bought a 4 inch USB desk fan from Holmes and Hunter at the same time. This is a comparison between them. Counter. The construction feels solid and they have a similar vintage look. Both move the same amount of air and have an adjustable incline. You have a manual switch (for those of you who use smart plugs) and a USB cable. They can be disassembled for cleaning. I'm a fan of Hunter because I have their 12" vintage style fan in my bedroom and it has been running quietly for hours on end for the past 10 years. Their mini fan costs $2 more than Holmes but is quieter. This is on my bedside table. It has a generic USB micro-B connector. I have several lengths of this cable so I have no problem placing it anywhere. The Holmes fan is noticeably louder with an annoying inconsistent hum and it stays on my desk. This requires a USB Mini B cable, which isn't used that often, so I don't have any extras. Luckily, there's an outlet nearby, as the included cord is only 4 feet long. I would buy a Hunter again in a heartbeat and expect to replace the Holmes with one within a year or two.
