Review on Honhill 45 Degree Double Flaring Tool For For Copper/Pipe, Tube Flaring Kit With Copper Line Tube Cutter by Michael Heidelberg

very cheap set. instant regret (damaged case on arrival)

I KNEW it was a cheapo. but I looked at those pics and I said to myself I almost never need to flare copper. (2 times in 2 years) so a cheap set on the truck would be worth having it handy incase the need arises I don't have to borrow a kit. The most important thing for me was the case because I have to store it in a tool box on a vehicle.Well I opened the package and was totally disappointed within seconds. I really don't know what I was thinking? 30 bucks for this whole flaring kit? First off the case is damaged and the latch wont stay closed. The damage to the latch also produced a crack inside the case. The case was the only thing I was telling myself would make the purchase worth it. so honestly that was the "clincher" but the tools themselves are just such poor quality that its hard to not feel stupid for buying them. I KNOW I can successfully use it (I haven't yet) maybe with a few retries. I have no doubt they will be ugly flares, but I am skilled enough to be able to use this. but jeez PLEASE consider my experience if you are thinking "well maybe its not too bad? the pics look nice"Instant regret here. and by the way, what kind of miracle metal is this cutter made of? its about as heavy at 2 feathers? feels like plastic but its so hard I think its metal. I should weigh it and post a pic? I am deciding if its worth returning just for a new case? or put some 10 mil tape around the case and drop in the bottom of the toolbox for a rainy day.

Pros
  • Automotive
Cons
  • Heavy and Bulky: The flaring tool and cutter can be quite heavy and bulky, which may make them difficult to maneuver in tight or awkward spaces
