It appears to be good quality charcoal, very finely ground, but I found a few tiny bits of some kind of metal. I suspect they are due to the mechanism they use to grind the charcoal as one of them was like a spring/coil and I saw that shape came from a lathe. As I don't know what kind of metal it is I can't tell if it's bad for you to eat, but I've undoubtedly eaten a few and am still alive. I mix one heaping tablespoon in a 16 ounce water bottle to use as a colon cleanse. I drink the bottle and discover a hair-like texture on my tongue; When I rip it off to check, it's a small piece of metal. Anyway I think it was the lowest price so maybe you get what you pay a little for with quality control.
