I use this drive as primary storage for RAW photo files to improve accessibility and speed when working with photo editing software like Luminar or Aurora HDR. Before I bought this Fantom FD Extreme drive, I used a Seagate USB 3 external drive, so opening images and switching from one saved template to another to compare the "looks" of photos 25-30 seconds lasted. The latency was so limited that I got into the habit of just moving the one file I was working on to my internal Mac SSD to speed up the compare/swap. Compared to the internal speed of an SSD, this drive is almost as fast when accessing/editing files over a Thunderbolt connection [using unscientific calculations I would get something like "one thousand one" (1 second) and "one thousand one thousand" internally." (1.5 seconds) on Fantom (vs. 30 seconds on USB) Great buy!
