At home, on the road or outdoors. Everything can happen. I camp alone in remote areas, often in a kayak. Often there is no internet and a weak mobile signal. In this scenario, as in everyday life, you need to know the conditions, have a backup light, a phone charger and a bit of entertainment. I bought this and am glad I did. This radio hits every spot. Traveling light and having what you carry to accomplish different tasks is the most important thing. More than once the conditions around me changed and instead of calling someone to find out the weather in my area, I was able to switch to the weather in a matter of seconds; Clear as a bell I knew I had to get ready. Raincoat on the tent, firewood removed, etc. This device charges from the second in the sunlight, even in the tent. It can be charged by solar panel, by the handle or via USB. Its orange color is also sharp and easy to find. AM, FM and weather are clear as a bell. There is enough light as a backup. Solar and USB charging is very good. I haven't used the hand crank yet. Now this is a regular charger for your phone. More like a backup. The housing is made of plastic and is not "drop-proof". However, it is a great addition to your camping gear, scare bag, car or home emergency kit. Cheap and often helpful. I like this radio and am interested in others like it.
