I've had them for two years now. I'm a carpenter and I use them all the time. A few times a week. When I say that, I really mean the tip of the needle. They came with a little vinyl to protect the tips. Don't lose this handpiece cap. You could drop them and damage the tips. I learned to turn them into stone and sharpen them back into a needle point. I had to do this twice. Try not to drop them. They came sharp as a razor. They're good enough to get into the inlet of a large splinter and pull it out. In the field they usually hurt a lot and you take your razor to cut them out. What really sets these guys apart is the shards you find the next day. Real midgets. They are usually surprisingly deep there. Use one of the tips as a feeler, after which you can begin to peel off the skin and reveal the embedded splinter. Then select a shard. Compared to using angled tweezers and a needle, you end up with a 1/4 size wound, if not less. Then it heals faster. As for the needle tip alone, I 100% recommend it. For me it was a bonus that they came with a quirky pair.
