Just received two of these and installed them on the front and back doors as an experiment in my new home. I also ordered more paper curtains for the windows. The adhesive on this product appears to be strong. There is a pulley system in the bottom bracket. The house I bought is in a prestigious area. For some reason there were no window bars in the common areas of the house and there are many windows. I needed something quick for privacy that didn't look too flashy. They are perfect for this and installed very quickly. It took me about six minutes to create one shade. NOTE: You will need to CUT BOTH ENDS of the lampshade to center the pulley and cords. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) Clean the surface and let it dry before installing these lampshades. 2) Before cutting, remove the foam from the inside of each end of the bracket. 3) Make sure the top bracket is as straight as possible before sticking it on the surface. It doesn't look like it will be easy to remove. 4) Press and hold the top when you lower the lampshade for the first time to make sure you don't tear off the adhesive. 5) If the adhesive fails I recommend double sided tape OR 3M Command Picture Hanging Tape - Heavy Duty. I actually prefer strips for hanging pictures.
