Short test report without bullshit. I bought 2 of these and will buy more if needed. Set it up and use it according to the instructions to set up an easy-to-use tachometer. I've used a 9 volt battery with no problems, but will be using a wall wart for a more permanent mount. Attach the magnet with tape or glue. Otherwise, you deserve to be hit in the forehead by a high-speed object (yes, I failed that IQ test myself). Mark the polarity of the magnet with a colored marker and mount it correctly. hp You can use any small neodymium magnet with them, a stronger one will give you more useful spacing. Mark the expected side up. Have fun playing with them, it's addictive. Oh I forgot to say I tested the accuracy and as far as I can tell it is accurate and consistent across the speed range. Is it safe, I repeat, to attach the magnet when running at high speed?
