good comfortable grip made of cheap plastic and metal gears. So what! It does a great job of creating the perfect breeze to fuel the fire in my inset fireplace. Other devices produce ash clouds indoors. This is NOT a hair dryer or tumble dryer, but it does an excellent job of creating a gentle breeze to fuel the fire. Anyone who breaks it because of a hard start or claims it's not generating enough air should buy an electric hair dryer or maybe get a gas fan. I like that it's cheap and light and I don't have to worry about recharging the batteries. I effortlessly control the speed of the air from a light marshmallow to the steady roar of a fire. I've tried a number of other circuits from batteries to regulated compressed air. It's every bit as good as any other method of starting a fire I've tried and much more convenient and user-friendly. a faster flow of air or a desire to move away from the fire a little.
