This is normal for home use.

For a cheap cotton candy machine, it does its job quite well. One problem is that a lot of sugar gets into the ring around the inside edge of the pink ringed bull. My kids named this cute event "Unicorn Poop". You can put it back in the spinner to make cotton candy, or you can eat it right out of the machine. The only real downside is that it starts to shake after about 15 minutes of use and gets really noisy under load. Although I would buy it again.
