I'm a mobile app developer. I bought this phone with no intention of using it as an everyday phone for debugging Android applications. For this purpose it works great. But as I got used to the phone, I grew to like it, to the point where I finally removed my SIM card from my iPhone 7 (AT&T) and now use the Moto G Fast as my primary device. . Compared to my aging iPhone 7, the battery life is excellent. I almost forgot that a smartphone can last all day without charging. The screen is also phenomenal for the price. Sure, it's not as bright as my iPhone 7 (this phone actually hurts my eyes when I crank the brightness all the way up), but other than that it has a great screen and the phone is virtually bezel-free. Excellent. I haven't noticed any slowdown and would rate it at least on par with the iPhone 7. Now the iPhone 7 is an old phone so maybe that's not saying much, but to me this phone is nimble too. I don't play games or do heavy tasks on these devices so none of the phones slows down in my daily use. I said I don't play much on my phone but I tested it on a few games. I installed Minecraft which works great on my phone. The only problem I had is that I don't feel comfortable keeping the screen size big while playing in landscape mode like Minecraft. Maybe "uncomfortable" isn't quite the right word, but sometimes I have to release the phone with my right hand to touch something on the left side of the screen. Maybe it's just how I think it is, although again I'm not exactly a gamer. I also tested streaming my son's Xbox One to a phone using the Xbox app and a Bluetooth controller and everything worked without any problems. The quality of the camera is lame, perhaps this is the only serious drawback of the phone. Of course if the camera is your main concern then look elsewhere, if that's the case you probably aren't buying in this price range anyway. In good light, the camera quality is about the same as my iPhone 7. However, in low light the images aren't as good. In theory it can record 4k videos but I honestly didn't find 4k videos to look any better than 1080p videos so I left the setting at 1080p. You can add a micro SD card there, making storage almost never an issue. I put in an old 64GB card lying around and you can format the phone card to use as extra internal storage. The phone charges via USB Type-C and charging seems fast enough, although I really only had to charge it a couple of times in the week and a half that I had, and I did it at night so the charging time was almost unnoticeable and not matter. The phone also includes an illusory headphone jack, which is always welcome these days. There are almost no viruses in this device, only a few Motorola applications. It's basically stock Android with a few Motorola tweaks. I installed an AT&T SIM card and am getting good signal and data speeds. The WiFi connection is also good. I haven't tested the connection to the hotspot yet. All in all, I'm amazed at how many phones you can get at this price point now. I was planning to upgrade to the iPhone 12, but I think I'll stick with this cheap Motorola for now. For the price of a new iPhone, I could get a new Motorola every year for the next six years, after which an iPhone replacement would be long overdue anyway. If you are looking for a good budget phone or even just a good period phone I would save your money and buy this item without hesitation. I see no reason to spend up to a thousand dollars (and now more) on a "flagship" phone when a sub-$200 phone works well.
