First of all the build quality of this mount is really good. There is nothing cheap about it, it holds the phone securely and installing/removing the phone is very quick and easy. If you want to mount it on air vents: - The mount is quite large. In my case, the vents were too close to the handlebars and the mount didn't fit properly. So if I wanted to use the mount, I would have to attach it to one of the air vents on the passenger side. Once you are certain that there is adequate clearance between the vents and the steering wheel, you should be aware that the vent clips do not hold the vent very tightly, which can cause the bracket to rattle on the vent. It seems you can fix this very easily by attaching a small piece of styrofoam or a styrofoam tube to the inside of the clamp with superglue. It will cost you $1 at the hardware store and should help. The clamps themselves clamp pretty tight so I would expect the mount to hold up very well with the foam inside. If you want to use a suction cup: - Many dashboards have textured surfaces that the suction cup cannot adhere to. This mount comes with a thin black plastic disc that has adhesive on the back. Attach this to your dashboard and your suction cup will be fine. I tested this on a 200 mile ride including a bumpy dirt road and was very pleased that the suction cup didn't come loose once. I finally have a Galaxy S3 and it fits perfectly. The mounts seem more than capable of holding a phone of just about any other size. The mount is also well designed when it comes to phone positioning. You can tilt it up/down or left/right, and position it in landscape or portrait mode. This rating would be 5 stars if the mount were made a bit more compact and if the vent clips didn't need to be modified to work hard. Everything else seems almost perfect.
