This is a serious kitchen tool that's primarily focused on the work rather than the cosmetic appeal. We had very nice traditional graters that looked like museum pieces but just did a terrible job at their main job. it works efficiently. Holding it for longer periods of time can lead to hand fatigue, but is not a serious disadvantage given the grater's overall performance. Although the grater is listed as 'dishwasher safe', we hand washed it and it comes in very handy. easy considering the hassle of washing a traditional grater. The price may seem high, but the grater is well made and should last a long time. The cost can be justified by reliability, durability and high performance.
