Review on Portzon Adjustable Weighted Vest by Chase Arellano

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good weight vest, but way over priced!

This is a great weight vest. This is only the 2nd vest I've ever used. I have a Gold's Gym weight vest that is similar to this one but it uses small sand bags instead of the bars that this vest has.Comparing this vest to my old one it has a much better fit then my old one. This one is more adjustable then the golds gym one. I tightened the straps as tight as they would go on my golds gym vest and the thing still way to loose and sags when doing push ups with it. But on this Portzon vest it can be made to fit very snug and makes doing push ups alot better because I don't have the thing sagging down to the floor. The Portzon vest has good range of motion as well. I do P90X which has a ton of push ups and pullups in it. Have not had any trouble doing either with this vest. It has a soft feel and even with all the weight bars in, it doesn't start feel uncomfortable like my old vest does when it is fully weighted. The only thing about this vest that I found to be a but if a bother is that the material makes you feel hot and if you start sweating it just kinda feels sorta like you have a sweater vest on. It's like a velvety feel on the inside, which feels soft and comfy but when your burning up doing a intense work out that material is t so nice.Overall I am happy with this vest, much better feel and usability then my old one. Aside from the material inside making you feel hot, I can't say anything bad about this. BUT.The PRICE! I can not believe this normally cost $80 on Ebay. I got it as part of the Vine program. But if someone gave this to me and asked what I thought the cost was I would maybe say $40 which is actually what I paid for my Golds Gym one years ago. Not $80! Now don't get me wrong the vest feels well made and all, and I do like it alot. But at the same time it does also have that feel of a cheaper brand of the same product, if that makes any sense. I have a feeling that this company or brand is copying this from a big name brand and it has that feel to it. For that reason $80 is way to much for this. There are much cheaper vests out there and they may be even better then this for all I know. But I am happy with it, just wouldn't pay $80, heck I am not paying $80 for any weight vest that's just ridiculous.

Pros
  • Enhances functional fitness and improves overall strength.
Cons
  • The vest may trap heat, causing excessive sweating and discomfort
