I've been waiting to buy this sweater for almost a year. My dog Spike is a true hairless Chinese Crested and we have been living in NEPA for almost half a year, cold weather so he has to wear clothes a lot. He has many different brands and styles, but I've only recently started buying him more expensive brands like Ruffwear and Hurtta. This sweater is the most expensive we have ever bought just for the sweater and that's why I waited so long to buy it. But in the end I gave up because none of the others were suitable for everyday use, at some point his skin wore out the most in his armpits or on his front legs. I had high hopes for this sweater based on the brand's reputation and positive reviews, although none of them were made for hairless dogs, so I knew we were still at risk. I was very happy with the sweater when it arrived, the jersey is soft and even softer on the inside, the zipper is fully lined and doesn't touch the skin, the fit is great. It's not tight, but it's not loose either. A truly perfect fit. Spike endured the sweater like any other piece of clothing he had, first for a 40 minute tantrum and then back to his room. He wore it a little less than a day, which is typical for him in winter. I was about to take off his sweater when I noticed a red mark on his back where the zipper tab touched his skin. My fault as I should have noticed the zipper had a tab that was touching the skin. I removed the tongue thinking we could deal with that as the issue was resolved. Then I noticed that both of his front legs were rubbed to a very nasty red where the sweater on his legs ended. The fabric at this point isn't rough at all, but that's where it's folded and sewn, and the outer fabric touches the legs. Unfortunately, it was enough to rub your legs. This is very disappointing after spending $60 on a cap sized sweater, but I'll leave it to him to wear for very short periods of time, or maybe with a jumpsuit underneath to protect his front legs. I can't blame Ruffwear for that. as the sweater is very well made and I carefully patted the area for material that would obviously chafe his skin and there is nothing. For those with a hairless dog who are thinking of this sweater, I've posted a video so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. I will also try the Ruffwear Climate Changer to see if the fleece material goes with it and review it as well. I hope we have better luck with that because we're running out of options. If you have a regular coated dog I highly recommend this sweater if you really need it.
