I bought this swimsuit when I was 6-8, 8-10 and 12-14 years old. For my average height 6 year old, the size 6-8 didn't fit, and the size 8-10 fit snugly on the torso but was too tight on the arms and very tight on the legs. 12-14 are too long in the arms and too loose in the chest/neck area, but will fit anywhere. (I bought a size 12-14 for my 9 year old girl and it wouldn't fit her - it's the brand's largest size.) I measured my kids with fabric tape and bought sizes based on the chart, starting with the correct torso . Circumference (measurement 4 on the product photo), then make sure it is large enough at the hips (measurement 3). Based on this, the chart differed by 3-4 inches for these two measurements.
