I love this food slicer and I use it all the time. (Buy a glove and just in case.) I use it on my salad all the time to quickly chop whatever I want to add to my salad. Soups are light. Simply select the disc size. I have a very expensive mandolin that is difficult to clean and use. This exceeds all my needs. Using a V-Slicer, and this brand in particular, is great as it has a fairly large surface area to slice and guide through the area. The slicer does NOT work like that. This works effortlessly and cuts any fruit or vegetable perfectly. You can also easily adjust the size right on the handle. Love it . Incidentally, I also bought a kitchen helper, but the cutting surface for food is not as efficient as this one.
