Review on Timbuk2 306 3 Spire Laptop Backpack 2007 by Anthony Flores

I've had the classic Jansport backpack for about 13 years and it has served me well. I bike a lot and have found that a bag like this doesn't hold heavier loads well and doesn't keep loads close and stable very well. Because of the laptop, the Jansport bag is also very uncomfortable to walk on. I did a little research and read some positive reviews about this bag. It seemed like a great price, I liked the aesthetic and I really like the MOLLE style webbing. The first thing that struck me was how compact this bag is when loaded with things like a laptop, U-lock and a few essentials. The second thing that struck me was how much crap you could stuff in and still close the pack. It's a 30 liter backpack for when you need it. It sits high on the back (perfect for cycling, fairly comfortable for anything up to a day hike), handles the weather well and looks pretty cool. The craftsmanship seems great so far. I am very happy with this purchase. Update: I just got home from the wettest bike ride of my life. During the 5 mile drive my phone went out twice flash flood warnings. The second time it was about mile four and I suddenly remembered important documents I had hastily stuffed into the laptop sleeve of that bag the other day. I knew this bag had kept things dry in regular rain before, but I was certain my clothes were ruined considering how wet my clothes were. I was glad I didn't have my laptop with me. I came home, stripped off my wet clothes and checked this bag to make sure the papers were intact and completely dry. The outside of the bag looked completely damp and wasn't advertised as waterproof, but I found that no trace of moisture had entered the bag at all, let alone a laptop sleeve. If I could give six stars I would. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I'll take another one soon, they suddenly discontinued it.
