Short version: Camera WORKS as intended underwater with decent picture, acceptable video. I was concerned about other reviews, leak issues etc but the price was right so who cares. My wife and I are planning a trip to Thailand in December and want a reliable underwater camera. Judging by the reviews, this is a risky move. Arrived right away, battery charged, thrown into the bathroom during the recording (yes, thrown away). Works perfectly, tried it under running water, everything is fine. So for the past few months we've owned it and used it in the pool, it's only 4ft deep but it's been under the same pressure (lots of tossing etc). The buttons work great underwater, they're a bit small, but so is the camera. With glasses or a mask (yes), you can see the screen well and still get through menus that sometimes react slowly. It was mostly 720p video and a few stills. Fine. My 4 year old Canon Powershot takes significantly better photos, of course it's not waterproof and that's what this review is about. The functions are basically the same as any other camera. There's a fully automatic mode that works reasonably well, as well as a face detection mode; in case you forget what a human face looks like. The video quality is good for the price range, not outstanding, but not terrible either. It's not intended as a camcorder, but as such it works great, it's just that the videos have to be short. The mic works great when out of the water and quickly shuts off. The lens works great, water drops roll off most of the time. The battery/SD card compartment is covered with a rubber grommet on a plastic door, not much to say, just worth mentioning. Cons: Don't use Flash, it's useless. You can take about 10 shots before the battery dies, no, I'm not kidding. I believe it was added as a courtesy. Anyway, only 10 feet deep, that shouldn't be a problem. I'll keep beating the camera both above and below water and will definitely write if it leaks. In summary, this is a great underwater video camera so far. More shots above the water? Not as much.
