Magellan Extended Mount and Magellan RoadMate 1700 GPS

I purchased this mount with a refurbished Magellan RoadMate 1700. I use the +/- system for ratings. This review includes Extended Mount and Roadmate 1700 GPS.1. + The extended mount is very strong, no need to use sticky pads, pads or standard mounts included with RM 1700 on my dashboard even if the dashboard is textured; The suction cup that came with the extended mount is STRONG STONE and stuck to my dash like it would never want to leave until I lifted the little lever. However, I would not leave a rubber mount in the sun for long periods of time as it will likely lose suction or otherwise damage the suction cup. I have a car cover on my car in Southern California District 2. + Mounting the RoadMate 1700 under the windshield with this mount is easy and effective. The screen is not glared by the road, and the large display does not block the view out of the window. In my case I have a bracket fitted to the top of the dash but it hangs firmly just above the radio in my Ford Fusion. No fuss, easy to reach and read.3. + IGNORE!, repeat IGNORE! What you may have read or heard from customers or Magellan themselves is that this GPS is best suited for a truck because it is SO BIG. This thing works well in any size car as long as you have an extended mount. But if you want to install this in your window or dashboard; forget it, there's just too much dead space when you're driving.4. + People over 40 like me can easily read the display without reading glasses. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, download the .pdf file from the Magellan website, it is much more detailed. If you don't, you may be confused or unfamiliar with some of the features of the RoadMate 1700. I would never have figured out how to switch from 2D to 3D if I hadn't read the .pdf. (Click anywhere on the map, click the 3D button). The 2D/3D toggle buttons are not visible until you touch the map for the first time, they are and appear where the bottom left button is.5. - It's BIG, if you want to use it in a car, you'll need an extended mount. 6. - The battery lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. No problem if you use it in your car, since it is always connected to an auxiliary power supply, you need to charge it for 1 hour before using it for the first time. I waited less than 1 hour and it worked right out of the box.7. - My biggest complaint has nothing to do with the mount or the GPS, it has to do with the shipping. SLOW; 4 days after the estimated delivery date.8. - No radio traffic updates (what's the difference!), but I had to put a minus for those who do. This option is rarely used on other GPS devices, mainly due to useless and outdated information. No tremor was observed at all. It is easy to install without much effort. The Magellan Roadmate 1700 GPS is impressive. Finally a GPS device that can see "the rest" without reading glasses. Very easy to use, very accurate, good value for its size. I've searched the internet for comparable GPSs of this size, but haven't found a price comparison yet. Here's a good (+) bad (-) for you. Believe me, there is a lot more good than bad in this case.
