Path: Laptop -> USB -> Topping DX7 Pro (with op-amp upgrade) -> 4.4mm custom balanced cable -> Ananda. Old headphones: Shure 1840, AKG k702. At the time of writing this review, the headphones have been in use for 3 months. I bought blindly, guided by reviews and reviews. Before you put on the headphones and taste the sound, you are faced with the fact that the headphones are huge, but they sit comfortably on your head, sitting for 4-6 hours is not a problem. It fits tightly to the jaw, with this there were no problems. By the way, the head adjustment is not designed for small heads, even in the most minimal position. Sounds disappointing out of the box. Planar drivers needed 100 hours of warm-up, after which you understand what you paid for. 2 months have passed since the purchase of a balanced cable, and with an accustomed ear, I will describe the sound . starting from Shure1840 - a competitor + - HD660S. The first thing you notice is a global change in sound delivery. It is very open and voluminous. The imaginary stage is slightly narrower than the K702, but the driver's rectangular design makes it much "higher", which makes the musical images "drawn" more naturally. After Ananda the scene on Shure/AKG seems to be flattened. Frequency response with a dip in the middle, from 1kHz to 3kHz because of which, voices can be slightly removed. The sound is very bright, I would say, on the verge of good and evil. The hill on the microwave and treble helps the musicality, but on rare recordings it forces you to turn down the volume. Bass is decent both in detail and in frequency coverage. In total, the headphones are very musical, with an involved sound. Despite the excellent detail, this is NOT an "audiophile microscope" for highlighting squeaks and sneezes in recordings. and no, they will be audible, but you don't pay attention to them, you just want to follow the main theme in the music. Perhaps for this reason, they didn’t work with sound, so I’m not going to sell Shure.
