If the screen doesn't work, the phone doesn't work. 80% bounce!

***UPDATE 09/12/20 AFTER SEVERAL REPLACEMENT ERRORS*** When the Samsung S7 Edge came out I really wanted it but couldn't afford it. A few years later my current LG V20 is getting a little slower and the new EDGE is available for $500 (pre-sale price)? I'm done with it! Both of my parents bought it too (they both used the Samsung S7 and not the Edge version which are pretty much useless at the moment) so I have three different experiences with the same phone to compare. NOW IT'S REALLY FIVE SINCE 09/12/20. Initial physical setup was easy. The SIM card slot (which also houses the SD card if you have one) slides out with the included pin. The SIM and SD card slot faces the back of the phone. Just plug it in and you're done. The phone started up just fine and when I got it it had about 70% charge. This is a BEAUTIFUL phone with vibrant colors and a VERY smooth screen. I miss the app drawer but I can live without it. Initially, I was unable to receive text messages on Verizon, although all other features worked great in every way. All three Motorola Edges had the same issue - all on Verizon. After a few days of troubleshooting, my dad contacted Motorola Level 3 tech support, who in turn contacted Verizon Level 2 tech support, and they found that Verizon needed to "check, undo, and check again." in our account settings to allow text messages to be received by our phones. Once Verizon completed that cycle, texting worked immediately for all three of us. I was hoping that was the only problem. unfortunately I'm not that lucky. A few days later, a purple "bruise" began to appear on the left side of the screen, as described by MANY other reviewers. Everything was back to normal the next morning, but by the end of the day it was worse than the night before. The next morning everything was back to normal, but after 30 minutes the bruise reappeared. The same day I called Motorola Technical Support. I had trouble understanding the woman I was speaking to because of her accent, but I understood most of what she said. I was told that the software folks are aware of the issue and are working on a fix in the lab and it will be pushed to the phones automatically when it's ready. I asked for a timeline and was told they couldn't tell - which makes sense as you don't want to open the door to liability for misleading customers, but at the same time I really needed some form of response. However, there was no need to wait for an answer. It was two days ago. In the evening, the lower left side of the screen was completely blacked out, the bruise spread to most of the left half of the screen and also started on the right side. The next morning it was better, but only half. In the evening the phone was dead again - that was last night. This morning the phone has improved, maybe only 25-30%. At 1:30 p.m., not only were parts of the screen black, but the lower part of the screen began flashing white and became unresponsive to touch (see attached images and video). I performed a master reset on my Motorola Edge but the problem persisted even after wiping the phone. At this point I requested a replacement from Revain. Luckily my LG V20 is still working perfectly so I have a fully working backup until the new phone arrives. As my father says, such a high bounce rate for a new product launch is unexpectedly high. Aside from that crippling screen issue, I LOVE this phone, as do both of my parents.-------------------- FIRST EDIT described above. The exchange lasted two weeks before the "bruise" appeared. At this point, my father's Edge also began to fail. However, my mother's Edge is still strong. So the bounce rate is now 75% (two for me and my dad). Rating downgraded from 3 stars to 1. The screen does not work - the phone does not work. The rest of the phone is literally perfect. But if you can't use it, then it doesn't work. Period. I returned the replacement for a full refund. I'm heartbroken ----- SECOND EDITION My dad's Edge replacement lasted less than 2 weeks before this screen started to fail. Out of the FIVE Motorola Edge phones owned by me, my father and my mother, only my mother has not yet developed a screen error. That's a whopping EIGHTY PERCENT of failures. Both my dad and I are back with our old phones and will soon be buying a new mid-range phone that is NOT Motorola.
