This product has a significant, although not very serious, design flaw as the third pin hole is on the side of the device which has a plastic extension. This will prevent some types of power cord ends from being tightly connected. The style of the end of the power cord on this very device will have the same problem. It surprises me that the designers didn't try to fit their kind of cable into their device - they were able to easily fix the design to accommodate a third hole on the side that doesn't have the plastic lip. However, I bought this standalone unit. Remote control extension a year ago to make it easier to turn on and off the Christmas lights. For that it works great.
