I know most people measure monitor performance by running games on it. However, 99% of the time I run MS Office software on it as it is my home office work machine. I've had it for about 15 months now and it's an excellent representation of what I do. When using Excel, a new sheet containing the entire ribbon at the top displays (at 80% scaling, my default setting) 56 rows 24 pixels high and 39 columns 80 pixels wide (default settings). For many users and many applications this would be overkill, but I often design or create very large spreadsheet models and the more columns and rows I can see with my almost 60 year old eyes the better. I connected a second monitor, a 24" Dell 1080p monitor, which has also served me well for over two years. They are in "extended" mode and are in physical contact with each other, but due to resolution differences I have not trying to show a table that spans both, just run a standalone program (Word, Outlook or Chrome) on the Dell If it was really necessary to replace a second ViewSonic VX27780SMHD with a Dell that would be great. But at the current price I'm fine with my current setup Text is crisp and colors are rich I work in a windowless home office so I haven't had any problems with glare I use a stand that has a good range of heights and angles (top/bottom and side-to-side) Two things to note: First, the Viewsonic i is powered by both my PC and my FiOS box (see above ll be my TV). Interestingly, the default screen is my FiOS box and I have to go into the menu to select Viewsonic (which is connected via DisplayPort). I'm sure there is a fix for this, but I haven't researched it - if anyone knows how to fix this so that the FiOS block is a secondary signal I'd appreciate it. The other thing is that while it's technically a borderless bezel (measuring 1mm), on my setup the non-screen area is 1/4 inch on the sides and top (1/8 inch bottom, find out). For me it's not a problem and it may be adjustable but I just haven't figured out how to do it. For the purists, though, I didn't find the screen really went edge-to-edge. Again, this only works if you place two or more of these next to each other; otherwise, who cares. Having said that, this 27" ViewSonic is only 2" wider than my 24" Dell (which has a 3/4" bezel all around). When table space is tight, this is a good advantage. The price, maybe it's because as of this writing there are 4K monitors that can compete with that, of course if they're used for enterprise software purposes where the frame rate won't be an issue. As for the games, with those I finished very little, the resolution vs frame rate tradeoff may keep it as a leading choice as 1440p is a big step up from 1080p. In any case, I would highly recommend this device to anyone looking for a high-quality 27-inch display that takes up as little space as possible.
