Most of the time I have spent with this hour meter I have mounted it on the frame of my DR leaf blower. They were looking for someone who would keep track of hours to keep up with oil changes. After installation I wrapped the required time around the spark plug wire and secured it with a zip tie. Engine started Up.meter did not detect a running engine. The instructions suggest wrapping the wire as close to the spark plug boot as possible. mine was about 1/2 inch apart. So pull it firmly to the connector. Still nothing. So I made a few more turns (8). This was discovered, so the engine ran (at full speed, if that matters) for about 2 hours. The hour meter registered 0.4 hours. So he's got a pretty useless number for me. Tried both more and less revs the next day or so. ". Still a long way off. So I took it off. As it's dirty and a little scratched I can't return it. Probably should have found something more expensive that might work better. I got one like this working on my mower ok, although it has more features than I need for this app (it measures voltage, rpm and hours).
