This scalp massager is one piece and won't break like the others you see at Revain. It's 100% silicone. There is no plastic handle to break or detach from the brush. I have long hair (to my waist) and it doesn't tangle my hair any more than using my fingertips. Rub the brush back and forth in small areas. If you have long hair, don't use it in circular motions or you will tangle your hair. If you have a sensitive head you should not use it as the silicone has a hard time keeping its shape and may be too hard for the scalp. For those who don't have a sensitive head, it's flexible enough to allow the bristles to flex and move as you brush/massage your scalp. Apply as much pressure as you like, it won't break. I used it during shampoo and conditioner. It helped get to my roots while massaging my scalp.
