The straps are long, thick and have strong velcro. They have a pleasant look and can be used on all types of bags without sacrificing aesthetics. They are strong and stay in place. The way I've used my straps is a bit unconventional. I bought these straps to attach to my Osprey Day Lite backpack to add extra padding. I added 20-30 pound sandbags to my day pack to prepare my body for the hike, but didn't want to carry my 60 liter backpack around with me all the time. The Osprey Day lite is not designed to carry that much weight and the straps cut into my shoulders. It was an easy decision and they stay in place when I'm moving in non-traditional ways.
