The first version I received was completely deformed during shipping, leading me to believe it wasn't heat resistant at all. The colored rings around the body are made of rubber that easily detaches from the channels. They offer little cushioning but fail very quickly if the bottle rolls at all. The wide opening is convenient to use for filling and washing hands. I rely on this as I have no idea how low the temperature will actually ruin the plastic, so I haven't tried washing it in the dishwasher. The mouthpiece is solid and I haven't had any leaks unless it's my fault for not fully tightening the seal. after filling. I haven't tried the straw but I think its function will do exactly what it's supposed to do. If it inevitably breaks, I'll probably spend the extra $5 on another brand that's a little more durable than just a daily water bottle.
