Review on Stanley 179218 24 Inch Touch Toolbox by Kaushik Sokolowski

Revainrating 2 out of 5

One-touch locking is cool - to the point where it's not.

Firstly you won't see me as a 'Verified Buyer' because I didn't buy mine through Revain. I bought it at a big hardware store nearby. The one-touch lock is very convenient. A simple two finger swipe and you both open the box and lid. Take out what you need, close the lid and it locks automatically. Until that happens, and when you pick up the crate, throw your tools all over the room. This happened to me for the first time two weeks after purchase. Since then it has been absolutely unreliable. Crashes about 10% of the time, but not in a consistent or predictable way. I have examined it carefully and there is no visible damage or deformation in the shape of the locking mechanism. It just randomly fails with no indication or warning that it happened. The good news is that it was cheap so I don't have a lot of money. The bad news is that it will be difficult to replace. No way, if it's a double hockey stick, I would trust this thing enough to bring it back to a customer's house.

Pros
  • Solid Reliable Construction
Cons
  • Some Issues
