I ordered them for a 94 year old aunt with congestive heart failure and severe edema. I ordered 1/2 size up as I didn't want to risk the shoes being too small. In hindsight, I could have ordered her the correct shoe size (8 1/2) because these shoes WILL fit. They're a bit long, but that doesn't make the shoes uncomfortable or unsafe. I've tried stretch mesh shoes in sizes 9, 9 1/2 and 10, but my aunt's feet didn't even fit in these shoes. Her feet became round like a watermelon, and her toes didn't even fit in ordinary shoes or slippers. It's the only pair of shoes that fits her foot comfortably. The heel of the shoe is adjustable with velcro and I had to tighten it a bit. The upper (big tongue) is oversized, fully raised and can be tightened or loosened as needed. These shoes are easy to put on and take off. They kind of remind me of folding a diaper around my foot - lots of ways to adjust and adjust. My aunt shuffles her feet and it's tough on her shoes but so far these shoes have held their shape and held on to her feet. They were a life saver at a time when we had no choice and needed strong, secure shoes that wouldn't slip or trip. She also wears these shoes all day and can put her feet up and take a nap in them, they are so comfortable. I wish slippers would work the same way. The only pair of slippers I could find for this aunt were adjustable men's slippers that had Velcro on her shoes and when I found a pair that fit her foot, they were too long.
