Now I have two of these devices. Pass-through power works as intended, even on a power hungry device like a 15" MBP. My only complaint is, that the USB Type-A ports are oriented in one direction, while the HDMI and Ethernet ports are oriented in the opposite direction.Regardless of how you use them, some ports are upside down compared to the standard orientation other devices. A slightly longer cable would also help. The HDMI port also doesn't support 4k60, but I understand that would require a Thunderbolt 3 adapter. As is, it works with regular USB-C 3.1 ports as well , which is an understandable compromise. I wouldn't mind seeing a TB3 version that offers 4K60 HDMI or DisplayPort. Aside from those minor issues, you have with the Er Weighing alternatives of either fewer ports, no power supply, or much bulkier (and more expensive) docking stations. It's small enough to fit in a camera bag or backpack bag and adds all the inputs and outputs you could possibly need.
