I'm buying jeans for my teenage son. He's a young teenager and judging by his personality he'll never worry too much about fashion. He's gotten a little more picky about what he likes (the slogan t-shirts, which he thinks are cool) and the most comfortable (sweatpants), while I try to gently get him to develop a style that's easy-going, but yet expressive. his "real self". Essentially, I teach him to choose a neutral base color for most of his pants (navy blue) in a socially acceptable style (no sweatpants) so he can choose between his t-shirts and more formal tops. without putting a lot of mental effort into unwanted routine work. For casual wear, we chose jeans. He also loves cargo pants, but they sometimes need ironing, which he doesn't want to learn, and I refuse to look at wrinkled pants. Thanks to me, he also has a relatively short torso with (almost) long legs for a "medium" height. The first time I bought about ten styles of jeans and his favorite was Levi's 505 jeans. Levi's Big Boys 505 Regular Fit Jeans, Midnight 18. We have these in a size 12 and again when he needed a size 14 in just a month or so. Another growth spurt and some comfort complaints later I got a pair of 505s when it reached a size 46, but I ALSO ordered a pair of these Lee Premium Select straight leg jeans in BOWERY and MARCO for the third time. My son's best fit was Levi's 505 jeans as he's on the new size range right now, but the Lee Premium Select BOWERY ONLY jeans are slightly larger (larger in width than tall, but I think they are slightly larger overall). He's now outgrown a Levi's 505 jean in a size 16 (tight in the seat and crotch and almost too short) but can still wear a Lee Premium Select 16 in BOWERY. Interestingly, Lee Premium Select 16 in MARCO (100% cotton) seems to be too small and he doesn't want to wear it. Most Lee models have some spandex (1%) so they are a little more flexible and wear out a little quicker than the 100% cotton versions. For our purposes, NONE of my son's jeans wore out this year as he went from 10.12. up to the age of 18. So I can't comment on durability other than saying they feel durable. I will continue to buy this Lee style only in the BOWERY * & * Levi's 505 style for my son until he is interested in shopping for himself or his build changes enough to warrant finding a new style .
