Good idea, but the implementation of this mesh network system is just terrible. I spent about $500 on these things to get enough light in my house. They should automatically connect to the internet and update their firmware. They all came with firmware that was incompatible with this one AND in such a way that they didn't work with the automatic setup. I had to spend several hours with tech support on the phone to get it working properly. But. After getting it to work with the claimed WiFi coverage, I had major issues with the router cutting off the internet for minutes. The download speed from my cable modem shows 126 Mbps, but I often only get 6 Mbps on those devices. IF I set the ping monitor, it fails for many packets at the same time as packets are lost. This is when I set the ping to only within my actual network. Then there's the question of how many units do you really need to cover things. They claim 3 units up to 6000 square feet. My house is about half the size and I needed 5 units. I got the best coverage from a top-of-the-line standalone Wi-Fi system. This stuff is only advertised and doesn't work. So it really is a lousy lousy product. It doesn't work properly, it's essentially a beta level engineering product and not yet operational. Now I'm stuck with 5 units that cost about $500 and they don't work and I'm facing a second round of tech support. Nightmare. Oh, and by the way, I'm an electrical engineer, so I know this stuff. I don't know how else to call this stuff garbage. It doesn't work at all.
