I use it all the time in my high school class. It's big enough for the students to see if I put it on the desk, but more often I put it under the document camera. It seems cheap but I've dropped it on the floor a few times and it's fine. Set it to less than ten minutes if you want it to ring when it hits zero. I like it because it's big, easy to use, easy for students to read, buzzes loud enough to hear during student activities, and calls short enough not to be disruptive (about 3-4 seconds).
