They don't make them what they used to be

For many people, their first aid kit is one of the things they see, touch and use every day. These same people have probably never bought a first-aid kit in their lives (it came with their home or their contractor found it and installed it without the homeowner having to do anything). And few people ever replace a first aid kit that is already installed. So one wonders why something that is used every day and is meant to last a lifetime isn't made as well as it used to be. You'd be surprised how many of the ones I've looked at are made out of flimsy plastic and have the look of a garish motel bathroom. I'm happy to report that this one is still primarily made out of powder coated steel and is still made in the USA. The mirror is a single piece of glass with a beveled edge rather than flat glass in a metal frame, so it feels like it should be in a prettier bathroom. For me the first and most important reason why I chose it is that nowadays it is extremely difficult to find these sizes. Several installers have told me that this size was popular maybe 20 years ago, but changes in home design have made the sizes almost obsolete. In fact, the only one that looked like it would fit perfectly was more than double the price. Back to the metal construction to make it clear that it uses clear plastic shelves, which the seller makes very clear in their product description. Obviously there are those who expected the shelves to be glass (I haven't seen glass shelves at this price point in over 30 years). Do I prefer glass? Not really, the shelves are almost always invisible and the use of plastic doesn't bother me; However, I've seen a few models that use a thick, glass-like acrylic shelf, which I'd prefer. Unlike the plastic cabinets I've seen, this one has a mirror which is a full piano style hinge riveted to the cabinet. The entire cabinet comes fully assembled and the choice of how the mirror opens depends on whether you mount the cabinet from the top or bottom. The cabinet can be recessed or wall mounted as you prefer. I spent months looking for a cabinet that would fit my available space after the old one's mirror broke and I ended up only finding two that fit exactly and the other model was almost twice the size. and didn't offer anything more or better for a surcharge. Please note they only offer one shipping option which is optimized for the weight and fragility of something with such a large glass mirror surface. This lasted 3 days. A blow to him, although he survived, is not particularly well protected, and the plastic shelves are literally just thrown into the closet, and nothing protects them. The cupboard managed to get through to me, but unfortunately it has a hit on it. Due to its design or manufacture...the frame (which is visible whether you're recessed in a cabinet or mounted on a wall) has no welded corners, and since the frame stretches very little, that means there's at everyone corner is a gap. This can be seen in the close-up photo. They went to great lengths to weld the corners of the inside of the cabinet, so there's no point in leaving the corners unfinished. Despite the corner issue, which isn't a deal breaker for me, the overall quality of this cabinet is excellent value for money. Once installed it looks fantastic and has a quality feel that will last.
