In my case, the problems started after a few months: the system began to upset with regular "blue screens of death" during idle time, when the user is not active, I did not pay much attention, because I usually turn off the computer when I leave it, and specifically on this hard drive not particularly sinned, suspected of departures and other reasons. So he worked for more than a year, from time to time sending alarm bells from SMART. The first parameter to increase was "High Fly Writes" by a few units - no big deal. After a few months "Command Timeout" started to dial in - so far so good. A little later, the turn came to "Reported Uncorrectable Errors" - and this is tolerable. Well, lately, greetings have been conveyed with large values ​​​​of "Current Pending Sector Count" and, naturally, "Reallocated Sectors Count" - as they say, the hard drive has reached the handle. Now it still works, but this is already an emergency mode, so it will serve as long as it lasts for any file garbage. To summarize all of the above: with hard drives, always be prepared for problems, they are prone to them.
