Review on Workshop Axis Allis United Kingdom by Jeffrey Gallagher

Deceptively small - image is not to scale

I bought several battle dice sets to spice up my Axis & Allies games and when they arrived I was very disappointed at how small they were. I used to buy full size Arkham Horror bricks from Q-Workshop and liked them, so I figured that as time went on I would inevitably buy a lot more bricks from them. But they were half the size of Arkham Horror dice (which are a hair's breadth larger than regular board game dice and a hair's breadth smaller than Las Vegas dice), and the feeling of tossing a double handful of those tiny dice bones brings far less satisfaction. than the normal board game dice that come with Axis & Allies. I'm still not sure if I'll keep using them or go back to the normal ones. But hey, the design is great and I can't imagine the color ever coming off. This is a high quality product. If you like small cubes, these are perfect. There is no Japanese set (as of October 9, 2011) but the general design of the disc on the 6 makes it easy to guess that they are destined for Japan, Italy or France - at least. matching the symbols used to represent these countries in the Axis & Allies 1940 games. I used them with the black and white German ones and they seemed to work well thematically as the black color of the German dice and the gray color of these British dice went well together and gave a particular sense of the combined power of the axis in the rounding of the axis. Also. I'm sure the gray set of these (for Japan/Italy) and the brown set (for UK/France) will work very well to create an even stronger association.
