Original Miele filters are expensive. My experience with original Miele activated carbon filters is that they clog up quickly. The activated carbon in the original filters becomes useless after a single use if there is pet hair on the carpet. I am very satisfied with the quality and performance of this secondary filter. Sometimes I put a few drops of aromatic oil in the filter to freshen up the room.
