Works, foil needs to be removed. Then solder some wires to the pads on the back. A good trick I've used is to coat the solder and surrounding contact area with epoxy or ShoeGoo to keep the wires secure. The performance was excellent for about a year, then the surface of the panel became dull and it stopped working. Most likely from the sun and the weather. I used the Scotchbright side of the sponge to clean the matte finish and then applied some car wax. Started working again.
