Does not work with rechargeable batteries, even high-end batteries used for other (more sensitive) appliances and only gives a low battery warning and then turns off immediately. Using brand name alkaline batteries will give you around 30 minutes of run time before being warned that they are low and shutting down. This seems consistent enough for my needs of measuring the same object of (nearly) the same weight, but as far as objective accuracy goes it's hard to say, I wish I'd put it back right away and find a more comfortable one to use.
